Overview
The One-Year Gestalt Training Program for Professionals focuses on the professional, the client, and the relationship. This program was developed in response to many inquiries from professionals desiring a basic, intensive training in Gestalt Therapy.
The experience is designed for therapists and counsellors, trainers and facilitators, consultants and leaders, who are currently practicing. Gestalt theory and methods will be taught as they apply to the particular client groups and responsibility areas of the participants. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals to learn the Gestalt method to add to the skills and understanding within their own disciplines. Personal development is an integral part of this training.
Professionals trained in Gestalt find that they relate to others with more spontaneity and creativity. They have an acute awareness of ethics and boundary issues when they emerge between themselves and the client. They develop perspective, flexibility, and responsivity in unexpected and demanding situations.
The Gestalt Approach
The Gestalt approach to therapy has served to integrate emotional and intellectual experience in the present. Thus individuals are enabled to respond spontaneously with actions that are congruent with current situations and relationships. Gestalt can be used in numerous contexts. Leaders address the participant’s unfinished emotional responses from the past and include them in interactive experiments in the present. This alters their experience and offers the possibility for changing outcomes in their work and in their life.
You can expect to:
- convert your frustration into information and energy
- develop creative approaches and interventions for groups and individuals
- learn to dissolve transference when it emerges in all of your relationships
- develop a broader range of skills and perspective
- learn the basic theory of Gestalt as it applies directly to current relationships and circumstances
Participants are awarded a Certificate of Completion of One Year Training in Gestalt Theory and Methodology following 150 hours of course time.
This program can be adapted and offered to organizational or management groups, to educational institutes or programs, and to social service agencies or treatment teams.
