Faculty Led Workshops

Programs led by GIT faculty provide Gestalt experience at its finest. Faculty with many years of experience will deftly and adeptly support you in your willingness to grow and make change. Topics range from anger and anxiety to couples work and movement. Each leader brings her own particular style to her approach to Gestalt.

Working With Couples
. . . for Gestalt psychotherapists
We are presenting our first Gestalt Therapy for Couples training program for therapists who have graduated from the Training Program or who have an equivalent training and would like to work with couples.  Please check our website during the school year for more information.
This program is offered in two  parts.  Part A is a requirement to attend part B.

Winter Program
This program will motivate you to make some changes and to have fun in the process. Anyone who has a desire to feel better, work better and relate better will discover the benefits of experimenting creatively in a Gestalt way. We will work with themes that are introduced by the group within a range of modalities, such as art, drama, cartooning, and sensory awareness.

The Trouble with Anger…
Anger is the most misunderstood of all emotions.  In this program, you will learn to make active use of this forceful energy; through the Gestalt approach, your aggression is considered essential for change. You will delight in the satisfaction that honest and direct encounter can provide. This program is offered twice-a-year; take one session or both.

It’s Hard to Play Slow . . . Miles Davis
. . . the mindfulness of sensory awareness and the magic of Gestalt
Do you find yourself rushing through your life?  In this workshop, participants will attend to the moment-to-moment journey of living.  You will experience the spaciousness possible in the moment and discover how the habitual becomes fresh with sensing.  You will have support for what emerges in the process.  The approach provides particular benefit for those who live with angst, distractibility and body pain.

Through the Eyes of a Stranger
In this program, the leaders will utilize digital video to capture images of you for the purpose of receiving and processing feedback.  This interesting modality and the Gestalt approach will combine to interfere with and modify how you see yourself, interact with others and participate in your life.  The video is for therapy purposes only and will be erased following each session.

Art Therapy Training
A Gestalt Approach for Professionals
This short series is for professionals who wish to include art and Gestalt in their repertoire as therapists, teachers, and counselors.  Through your own work, you will learn about the impact of Gestalt Therapy and the effectiveness of drawing and other artwork for:  eliciting memories and unaware feelings, clarifying and resolving conflict, changing perspective, accessing creativity and flexibility, inspiring emotional interaction and intimacy.  You will also learn to:  simplify work with the client’s artwork and response, think on your feet, manage emotional content, experience a powerful Gestalt approach to art work, with less emphasis on analysis and interpretation.

Father’s and Sons
This one-day workshop will encourage an exploration into the emotionally central relationship between fathers and sons.  Our fathers, whether present or absent, have a powerful impact on our development and shape our identities as men.  The roles we play, our style of relating and the goals we strive for are often the result of encounters with our fathers.  Join us as we explore this relationship in order to build awareness and foster choice in our lives.

Summer Sizzler
An Intensive Gestalt Therapy Program
This Gestalt therapy program has been ongoing for the past 10 years.  It is an ideal opportunity for individuals to be introduced to or to revisit the Gestalt method. Expect some changes and enjoy the creativity and excitement of working with others committed to personal growth.
