The Shaman’s Mirror
In Shamanism mirrors are portals to other worlds. The scientific discovery of mirror neurons in the human brain confirmed that we are born with the innate capacity to recognize the viewing point of the other – in other words, to know their world. Similarly to be a Gestalt therapist is to be a shaman – a traveller through other worlds. There are an infinity of worlds - each world is defined by its own viewing point of reality. A mirror can be the eyes of the other, a crystal, an animal or other life form, or a portal created by placing candles on either side of a reflective surface.
To enter into another world we must be willing to expand our sense of self. On the other side of the mirror are shadows of self that become allies, ancestors that love us, dream realities in which we have tools and skills that we can bring back into our own. In this year’s shamanic workshop you will learn to use mirrors to open doorways to other worlds, and redefine what you know of yourself as human.
