Continuing Education
Our experience is grounded in our sense of familiarity with the world, with ourselves, with others. That which we take for granted makes experience possible, and at the same time limits our possibilities for experience.
Art is a way of defamiliarizing that which we usually take for granted. Art process opens us onto new ways of seeing, experiencing, and making sense. Thereby, possibilities for being that are otherwise hidden from experience, have a chance to appear. Through art process new meaning, different meaning, has a chance to take place.
In this workshop we will specifically address the right hemisphere of the brain, by engaging in different forms of art process. Doing so, we will explore some fundamentals of field oriented gestalt therapy. We will experiment with ways of looking beyond the familiar, defamiliarizing the stuff we usually take for granted, and opening onto the appearing of new, different meaning.
