Sessions: What to Expect

Therapy sessions, whether online or in person, are 50 minutes in length. The frequency of your sessions may vary depending on different factors, so please discuss these with your therapist. Some clients prefer weekly sessions particularly while getting to know one another, and others may prefer bi-weekly, monthly or as needed. The reduced rate of $40.00 per session is upheld for up to 1 year only, at which point the therapist-in- training may increase the rate. Some clients may decide at this point to contact the clinic to inquire about being matched with a new student therapist at the reduced rate. Please speak with your therapist about this.
What is required for participation in online therapy? You will require access to a a safe and private space, a device (PC, laptop, handheld/smartphone etc..) with audio and video capabilities and access to good quality, high-speed internet connection. Online appointments will be set up with you by email, and a direct link for the session is generally sent to you before your session.

Register for Intake – Next Steps If you are interested in working with one of our therapists, please fill out the information form below and one of our intake workers will contact you to set up a telephone screening interview within 14 days. Please provide your availability on the information form for this phone call which will take approximately 30 minutes. You will need to be in a private space so that you can answer some personal questions that will help us to determine if one of our student therapists are best suited to work with you. You will be asked to provide consent to this confidential screening interview, and the limits of confidentiality will apply and be reviewed with you at this time. We will do our best to match you with a student therapist, and also cannot guarantee that someone suited to your needs and availability will be available. We will suggest other potential resources for you to explore if this is the case. The phone interview will include information about your history related to your request for therapy. The information from this interview is transferred to the student therapist as part of your file and the student clinic does not keep this record after 3 months. In the initial meeting with your therapist, you will once again discuss Consent to Treatment and Limits of Confidentiality within the therapy session.
